What is CEDF-IT?

The Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information technology or CEF-IT is a consortium of industry, academe, government and NGO's that seeks to increase the quantity and improve the quality of professionals in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and IT-Enabled Services Industry through proactive intervention in the HR development sector.

When and why was CEDF-IT established?

CEDF_IT was established during the Cebu IT Summit held in March 29-30, 2001, during the term of then Cebu City Mayor Alvin G. Garcia.

The aforesaid summit - the very first in Cebu - the participating IT stakeholders signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to signal their resolve to work together to help increase the quantity and improve the quality of Cebu's ICT workforce, as a critical and necessary condition for Cebu to become an honest-to-goodness ICT and IT-Enabled Services hub; and a key contributor to the overall development of the Philippine Cyber-services Corridor.

Thus was born CEDF-IT, a non-stock, nonprofit, private foundation duly approved by the SEC on the 5th of November 2005.

In accord with its vision-mission, CEDF-IT serves as the leading HR resource for ICT and IT-Enabled Services.

What have been CEDF-IT's major accomplishments since it was formed?

From 2001-2005, CEDF-IT pursued flagship projects upon which it has gradually anchored its long-term strategies. Among these were the conduct of a comprehensive HR survey on ICT Services in 2002; the setting-up of the IT Teachers Academy in the same year; and, the creation of the Professional Certification Center in 2003.

A. Regular (Cebu-based)

Industry:    Single Proprietorships, Partnerships, Local and Multinational Corporations, etc.

B. Affiliate (Outside Cebu)

How does one become a member?

Simply follow three steps -1st, fill-up the Membership Application Form; 2nd, submit the requirements as detailed therein; and, 3rd, forward the payment for the corresponding Annual Membership Dues.

Members are given an orientation prior to formal acceptance and ceremonial induction.

What are the benefits of becoming a CEDF-IT member?

CEDF-IT member's benefit in a various ways, including but not necessarily limited to the following -

1st CEDF-IT serves as the main conduit for networking with - and gaining the support of relevant stakeholders from the industry, academe, government, and NGOs;

2nd CEDF-IT is a viable forum for discussion, and resolution of pertinent issues affecting the HR development sector of the ICT and IT-Enabled Services Industry.

3rd CEDF-IT is training provider for upgrading in IT knowledge and skills, through seminars on current trends and technologies, and through other especially designed training interventions.

4th CEDF-IT offers government recognized (TESDA, CHED, NCC), professional competency certifications that are based on internationally-accepted standards. After due assessment or diagnostic process, CEDF-IT thereby validates the knowledge and skills level of the IT professional in specific areas of the ICT or IT-Enabled Services Industry.

5th CEDF-IT is a regular recipient of funding grants, or upon its endorsement, of scholarships for further studies, or specialized research in ICT.

6th CEDF-IT is an HR recruitment facilitator; principally through its carrier guidance and annual job fair program and other related major interventions.

1. By actively participating in committees setup by CEDF-IT and in any of the regular or special meetings of the organizations;

2. By helping promote or by joining any of the CEDF-IT training workshops, seminars and other specialized courses;

3. By availing of CEDF-IT's Certification, Career Orientation, Guidance, and Annual Job Fair and other related programs or services;

4. By supporting the foundation through any form of funding assistance or donations or through other means when requested; and,

5. By inviting new members to join CEDF-IT.
